What people are saying about

All-Philly Big Sing

I was several times moved almost to tears to hear such a large diverse group singing about and, therefore, thinking about important common themes.

The event was so positive and uplifting!! It was also SO much fun too! I brought a guest and she loved it and looks forward to coming next year! The guest artists were absolutely wonderful!!!

I loved learning the songs all together without sheet music. It was so freeing to learn by listening and hear our voices come together as one! It was healing for my soul.

All-Philly Big Sing

Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia's inaugural All-Philly Big Sing was a resounding success! On September 8th, nearly 400 singers gathered at Rodeph Shalom for an afternoon of joyful community singing. Guest conductors from choruses across Philadelphia, and featuring singer, song writer Moira Smiley, guided participants through a diverse repertoire including traditional folk songs, spirituals, and even a lively rap about Philadelphia! The enthusiasm and energy in the room were palpable as voices united in harmony. Given the overwhelming positive response, we are thrilled to announce that we will definitely be planning another All-Philly Big Sing for next season. Stay tuned for details!

IT'S TIME

From Artistic Director Dominick DiOrio

It's my fifth season now as artistic director, and I believe it's time!

It's time to protect our neighbors.....

It's time to celebrate the season.....

It's time for reflection, change, and action.....

And, it's time to forge a better world.

As we examine works classic and new, we foster artistry, beauty, and belonging by singing together to illuminate our shared human experiences. We do this from a place of strength and possibility.

IT'S TIME to embark on the next chapter in Mendelssohn Chorus of Philaelphia's exciting story, now 150 years long and still being written......
