Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia is proud to announce its first-ever All-Philly Big Sing, a groundbreaking event that will unite voices from across the city in a joyous celebration of music and community. Joining us as song leaders are some of Philadelphia's most esteemed choral directors and conductors, representing the city's diverse musical landscape.

This event will feature Moira Smiley, as our headlining songleader and we're thrilled to welcome Miriam Davidson (ANNA Crusis Feminist Choir), Rollo Dilworth (Singing City, Temple Singing Owls), Mitos Andaya Hart (PhilHarmonia), Elizabeth Parker (Commonwealth Youth Choir), Paul Rardin (Temple University, Chair of Choral Music and Vocal Arts), and Julia Zavadsky (Nashirah: The Jewish Chorale of Greater Philadelphia), each bringing their unique expertise and cultural perspectives to the stage. These talented individuals will guide us through an unforgettable musical journey, showcasing the rich tapestry of our community's voices.

The All-Philly Big Sing is designed to be a truly joyous and welcoming event, reflecting the diversity of our city in both its leadership and song selection. By teaching songs from the stage without the need for sheet music, we're creating an environment for all who love to sing, regardless of formal training. Also featuring Ariel Alvarado, MCP’s new Assistant Conductor and Director of Community Programs, our goal is to ignite a musical spark that will resonate throughout Philadelphia, leaving participants humming tunes that bridge cultural divides and celebrate our shared humanity.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Infinite Joy (Jonathan J. Wallace) – Spiraling out from a shimmering center, a sunny flower bursts open – each petal connected by a never-ending loop – asserting, protesting, and celebrating itself within this world. At a time when so much still seems uncertain, it’s important for us as a community to remember the things that are certain: our ability to control our own joy, and our strength to fuel our communal joy infinitely.
