Soprano Barbara Berry‘s career in opera and oratorio has spanned two continents. After studying vocal performance at the University of Colorado, Barbara performed as soloist in concert at the Aspen music festival in Colorado and at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Barbara accepted a position as the lead lyric soprano with the Trier opera (Germany). She has appeared in a number of leading roles to critical acclaim, including Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung as dem Serail, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme, Susanna in Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna, Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel, Baby Doe in Moore’s Ballad of Baby Doe, and Elsalil in Meyerwitz’s Die Winterballade.


After returning to the United States Barbara has performed as soloist in concert in Mozart’s Requiem with the Polish National Orchestra, Canteloube’s Chants d’Auvergne with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Mendelssohn Chorus. She has cherished the responsibility of raising her three children and for the past two decades Barbara has also pursued a self-guided art education, taking courses and workshops with esteemed artists throughout the country. Her contemporary impressionist paintings have received awards at national and international juried competitions and art shows.


Starting May 5th Barbara will be painting for five days in one of the longest running and most popular outdoor painting events in the country, the Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival.
