Philadelphia-based Commonwealth Youth Choir (“CYC”) was founded in 2001, and for many years operated as the Keystone State Boychoir and the Pennsylvania Girlchoir. In 2024, CYC announced a joint venture with the Philadelphia Boys and Girls Choirs, and the Keystone State Boychoir and Pennsylvania Girlchoir merged to become the all-gender Commonwealth Youth Choir. CYC continues to empower nearly 150 young singers from across the Greater Philadelphia region to find their voice through world-class performances and a deep commitment to holistic musical training. CYC, the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale, and the Philadelphia Girls Choir are the three core programs of the newly-named Philadelphia Youth Choral Ensembles, an organization which celebrates music with more than 500 singers ages 6-18 from throughout the region.
