Ian Martin is a classically trained tenor vocalist and music teacher. An alumnus of Philadelphia’s High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), he graduated magna cum laude from West Chester University, receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in voice. During Ian’s time at West Chester, he earned the Hilary H. Parry Memorial Junior Voice Scholarship, and was an honors soloist for the WCU Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the Concert Choir, and the WCU Opera Theater Company, having performed in Poulenc’s “Dialogues of the Carmelites”, as well as Penhorwood’s “Too Many Sopranos”, and Caccini’s “La liberazione di Ruggiero”.
Ian has continued to perform as a freelance singer (having sung background for artists like Sarah Brightman and Bobby McFerrin), as a tenor section leader for the Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia, and as a member of the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir. When he’s not performing, he’s in the classroom, teaching general music to children from kindergarten to eighth grade, and directing his own elementary school chorus.
